The Stupid Party

As the final months play out before the presidential election, it’s clear to see the Republicans deserve to lose. Donald Trump doesn’t but, the party does. The Republican body in Washington right down to the voters just don’t grasp how the (dirty) game of politics is played. Nature has proved that any creature that can’t evolve soon becomes extinct. So it will be with conservative Republicans.

“A house divided can’t long stand”. This describes the Republican party well. Regrettably, Republicans retain this thread of moral fiber which causes them to, “strain at the gnats” that Trump forces them to swallow. Indignant, they defect or sow seeds of decent within the party as did Romney “dividing the house”. They lose focus that if Hillary wins, ….  they will be forced to ingest camels on a regular basis!

Republicans are slow learners. Behold how Democrats during recent hearings (reflexively) defended Hillary saying the hearings on Benghazi, classified e mail leaks, and lying under oath as being, “political theater” and a waste of time and money! To refer to such, “extremely carelessness” behavior that put the whole of America at risk as, “political theater” in defense of Hillary is un-blenching loyalty to their party…. of which the Republicans could only dream of.

We can suppose Trump to be bad for America where as Hillary has proved it beyond any doubt. Even up against such a blighted opponent as Hillary, Republicans have resorted to cannibalism within their party! Behold, …. “The stupid party!”

Poker Run Huge Success

The Barksdale Cancer Foundation would like to extend thanks to all who helped to make its eighth annual poker run the success that it was. It was a HOT day, but a number of bikers and classic car enthusiasts braved the heat to help raise money for cancer patients right here in Charlotte County.

We would like to thank all the sponsors of our event, who make it possible to generate more profit by absorbing costs affiliated with the fundraiser. They are too numerous to name here, but we hope they know how much they mean to our organization.

Thanks, too, to those who worked the individual stops along the route, and to friends of the foundation who fixed baked goods for our riders. A special thanks to our food donors who so generously donated items to our fundraiser to pump up profits.

If you know of anyone in Charlotte County who is in need of assistance from the Barksdale Cancer Foundation, please contact any board member or Terri Jones at 3676 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Red Oak, VA  23964.

Anyone who would like to make a tax-exempt donation to the organization may do so by mailing it to P.O. Box 225, Charlotte Court House, Va.  23923.

Sincerely,

Wendy S. Lankford, President
