LUNENBURG – Jason Lee remains in jail following recent Lunenburg County grand jury proceedings that did not end in a true bill decision being returned on an indictment for first degree murder against the Lunenburg man.

Lee remains in JailHowever, sources familiar with legal proceedings indicated that the next grand jury in August would likely return a different result and a true bill on the indictment with it already having been certified previously.

The indictment stems from the Thursday, March 17, killing of Jamel Williams in Kenbridge along Center Street in Kenbridge.

The recent grand jury was made up of four men and two women and there may have been some confusion stemming from legal concepts for which the group did not ask for legal assistance on.

Lunenburg County Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement noted that the first degree murder charge had already been certified by a General District Judge prior to the grand jury being called.

Another grand jury group will be called in August. Eyewitnesses came forward during the original incident and identified Lee as the man who killed Williams at the Kenbridge location.
