Lady Statesmen Tennis dominates conference rivals Appomattox Raiders

Lady Statesmen TennisOn Thursday, April 21, the Lady Statesmen tennis team dominated Courthouse Conference 37 rivals, the Appomattox (A) County High School Lady Raiders with a 8-1 win.  At the #1 seed Emily Giuliano (A) forfeited to Meredith Feinman (RH).  At #2 Couper Webb defeated Lauren Lawson (A) 8-4.  At #3 Alena Latysheva defeated Mason Canada (A)  8-3.  #4 Emily Toombs defeated Alexis Depalmer (A) 8-2.  #5 seed Helen Lin came from behind to win over Ilyana Servis (A) 8-6 and Tyler Whirley fought hard but lost to Destine Berkley (A) 2-8.

In doubles action #1 seed Feinman/Webb were on fire with a win over Giuliana/Lawson (A) 8-0.  #2 seed Toombs/Lin were also in top form with a 8-2 win over Canada/Lawson(A) , and the #3 team of Latysheva/Morgan Mason was strong with a 8-3 win over Servis/Berkley(A) .  In exhibition play Eliza Walker/Grace Reynolds teamed up for a 8-3 doubles win followed by strong singles play.  Walker won her singles 8-4.  Reynolds played well but fell 2-8.

The Lady Statesmen will be back in action on Monday against William Campbell at home, Tuesday against Buckingham and Friday against Halifax.
