Lady Chargers Take Down Bluestone on the Road

The Lady Chargers Varsity Softball team picked up a big win over Bluestone on the road last week as they held off a late rally by the Barons to win 6-4.

Both teams would go quietly in the first inning with Hailey Bayne collecting a pair of early strikeouts.

In the second inning Central would erupt for three runs as Ashley Genova led off the inning with a double. Kaylee Williams would reach base and score on a hit by Kayla Anthony to push the Lady Chargers up 3-0.

Bluestone would answer back in the bottom of the second inning as they used a hit batter and walk along with a double to score two runs and tighten the game up.

The defenses for both squads would play well in the third inning and the score remained the same. In the top of the fourth inning, Central would see Williams single, Hart single and both runners score to push their lead to 5-2.

The teams would once again go scoreless as the pattern of no runs in every other inning continued in the fifth. Central added another run in the top of the sixth inning as Hart singled and scored on a hit from Meri Dalton. Bluestone would answer back with a run in the bottom half of the inning and would add another late run before a strikeout from Bayne would end the threat and give Central the victory.
