LUNENBURG – The Varsity Lady Chargers are getting ready for the start of the regular season basketball schedule and have seen many positives in early scrimmage action so far this season.

Central Head Coach Scott Wilson has a team that returns seven players with varsity experience.

Out of the seven players, six are seniors that should give the team strong on court leadership this year.  Bri’Anna Johnson, TanJaNeka White-Freeman, Brittany Dolan, My’Yonte Jennings, Ashley Genova, and Dominique Watson are the senior players, while junior, Megan Dech also returns.  The Lady Chargers also have Zhalen Rainey (up from JV) and two newcomers to the program senior, Kayla Anthony, and junior, Brittany Tomlinson.

In their recent scrimmage against Sussex, the Lady Chargers took three of four quarters including total points.  Leading the way offensively were My’Yonte Jennings (11 points), Bri’Anna Johnson (10 points), and Brittany Dolan (8 points).  In the rebound department, Dominique Watson and Ashley Genova were big on the boards with ten and nine respectively. Brittany Dolan led the team with steals and assists with three in each category while Megan Dech had four blocks.
