CHS Girls 2The Central High School Lady Chargers had a recent busy week as they played three James River District games. Among the three opponents last week were the Nottoway and Amelia who are currently the top two teams in the district.

The Lady Chargers opened the game slowly on both ends of the floor, which caused them to fall behind 13-6 early in the game.  However, the Lady Chargers would get energized following that first quart and go on a 30-11 run over the next two quarters to take a 36-24 lead into the final eight minutes of play.

Bri’Anna Johnson and My’Yonte Jennings would lead the charge on offense during that big run as the duo would score a combined 23 out of the 30 points.

The final quarter would see the Lady Knights cut the lead down to two points, but the Lady Chargers got some clutch defense and scoring to hang on for a 41-38 victory. J

Jennings would have a team-high 15 points with Johnson chipping in 13.  Ashley Ellis would add 8 points while TanJaNeka White-Freeman (4 points) and Brittany Dolan (1 point) rounded out the scoring.
