james_ramseyKEYSVILLE – After close to a decade at the helm, Keysville Mayor Jimmy Ramsey has called it quits.

During the June Town Council meeting, Ramsey announced his resignation, pointing out his age and health.

At 87, Ramsey, in addition to working as the Keysville Town Mayor, spent several years as a Charlotte County Board of Supervisors member representing the Keysville District.

“He spent a tremendous amount of time on town business. Jimmy loves Keysville and went above and beyond to serve,” said council member Rhonda Benn. “We really need a qualified Town Manager due to the size of the projects we have pending and the amount of work running the town involves. A Mayor’s position should be more social/public relations.”

Vice Mayor Audrey Payne will now serve as acting mayor until Ramsey’s replacement is elected.
