Keysville Depot Still on Track; Friends of the Depot Continue Work on Restoration

The first depot Day for 2014 was held Saturday April 12. Volunteers stacked the bricks from the old foundation on pallets and cleaned up the property. Plans were made to replace the front sills. One volunteer agreed to cut the mortise holes on the sills so the tenons on the existing posts can be reset.

The Friends of the Fort Mitchell and Keysville Depots agreed to schedule a regular Depot Day for volunteers on the 2nd Saturday of each month until fall.  The next scheduled Depot Day will be May 10, 2014 starting at 9:00 am.

No matter what your skill level there will be something for you to do. There are more bricks to be stacked and paint to be scraped. The Cupola must be jacked level and the roof of the offices secured and waterproofed. Once the sills on the front of the freight room are installed and the foundation finished work can begin on replacing the siding on the front of the freight room.

The Friends are continuing to raise money for the project. All donations of money, labor and materials can help with the stabilization renovation and restoration of the Keysville Depot.
