There will be a stew and bake sale at the Keysville Depot Work Day this Saturday, November 8. Stew Master Melvin Woodson of Fort Mitchell will man the stew pots. The Friends of the Depots are accepting donations of baked goods and yard sale items to benefit the restoration. To pre-order stew call 732-3965 or 736-8181; to donate just stop by Saturday morning.

After a long process, the documents for the VDOT Depot Stabilization grant have been completed. The stabilization bids have been received. The bids will be opened Friday and will be announced Saturday.

The stabilization will involve replacing the foundation, installing drain tile, removing the first temporary roof and replacing it and leveling the cupola. The siding on the freight room and cupola will be removed and saved and plywood will be installed. Upon completion of the stabilization phase the Keysville Depot will be secured and dry for the first time in several decades.

The VDOT grant is a matching grant which requires raising $20,000 to receive the funds. The Friends of the Depots have already raised more than half of this but more donations are needed.

Following the completion of the stabilization phase an additional grant is available for the continued restoration.
