kavs-lose-to-fredKENSTON – The Kenston Forest Kavaliers entered the final game of the season hoping for a victory to cap off a better campaign than in 2015; however, Fredericksburg dashed the Kenston hopes by besting the Kavaliers by 35-0.  The Kavs finished the season with a 4-6 record, much improved over the 0-10 mark of 2015.  Seniors from the football, cross country, and cheerleading teams were honored before the game.  Against Fredericksburg, JEB Buchanan led the rushers with 86 yards.  The passing game indicated possibilities but the Fredericksburg pass rush dominated the contest.  Fredericksburg totaled nine sacks versus the Kavaliers.   JEB Buchanan, with 11 tackles, and Mark Smith, with 10 tackles, led the Kavaliers defensive effort.  Senior linemen (Smith, Tripp Jones, Thomas Hunter, and Cole Hagaman) were given the opportunity of carrying the ball in the final minutes.  Smith gained 33 yards on 5 carries and Hagaman 18 on 3 attempts.

For the year, Freshman Elijah Warner topped the stats with 1076 yards: passing, running, returning, and receiving.   JEB Buchanan led ball carriers with 834 yards.  Defensively, Jones totaled 82 tackles and Buchanan had 78.
