Kenbridge Man Killed in Route 40 Accident

Kenbridge man killed 2LUNENBURG – An early morning accident on August 30 in Lunenburg claimed the life of a local resident. The wreck took place at 8:54 a.m. last Wednesday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the site of the accident near Chapel Road and Route 40.

Virginia State Troopers were also dispatched to the scene of the wreck to investigate the incident and Virginia State Police (VSP) Public Relations Director Corinne Geller issued a release later that day confirming that the accident had claimed the life of 35-year-old Christopher L. Neblett.

Mr. Neblett was a well-known Kenbridge resident. He was traveling west between Kenbridge and Blackstone when the accident took place. According to Virginia State Police information, Mr. Neblett was driving west on Route 40 when the 2002 Chrysler 300 he was driving crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer that was traveling in the opposite direction toward Blackstone.

Mr. Neblett was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the accident.

There were no other injuries during the accident and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
