The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) and local fire departments statewide are joining forces during Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10, to remind local residents about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home and testing them monthly.
As part of the observance and celebration, The Kenbridge Fire Department will hold an open house event on Sunday, October 11th from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the fire station in Kenbridge. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks and cold drinks for everyone attending. Also there will be rides on the fire trucks and gifts for the kids, as well as handouts on fire prevention andsafety for the adults.
Kenbridge Fire Chief Dicky Harris stated, “This is a great opportunity to come see some of the local fire equipment, eat a free lunch at the fire station and learn important fire safety facts.”
