Kenbridge Finalizes Pick-up Policy

Residents Will Now Get Quotes on Large Items

With October here and leaves beginning to fall in the area, Kenbridge Town Council members reviewed and finalized a leaf/brush pick-up policy that initially brought some concern over costs to residents to pick up large brush.

The group took those concerns and made some changes while recently adopting the finalized version that began this month. The policy notes that grass clippings, leaves and small brush must be placed in trash bags or trash cans that are no larger than 32 gallons in size. The pick-up collections will coincide with regular garbage collection, but if the piles are small enough to fit in bags or trashcans, but are not in those containers, they will not be picked up.

The second part of the policy addresses large brush and tree items that do not fit in trash cans or bags. In this situation, the prices for pick-up will be determined by the number of town employees used along with the equipment used and the time taken to collect the debris. In order for these large piles of brush to be picked up by the town, residents will have to visit the Kenbridge Town Hall and pay for the service up front prior it being done. The town officials will give a quote to the residents and schedule a time for pick-up.

The free debris pick-up will be done during the third full week of October and also during the third full week of April. This will be done Monday through Friday.
