Kenbridge Crack Dealer Goes to Prison – Repeat Offender Gets 9 Years

carrie-thomas-2KENBRIDGE – Carrie Mae Thomas, also known as Penny Wyatt, age 51, of 204 North Broad Street, Kenbridge, Virginia was sentenced recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court to nine years to serve in prison on two felony convictions of Distribution of Cocaine.  She was previously convicted for the same crime in 2003 in Newport News and served two years.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the defendant made $100 sales of crack cocaine on April 3 and 5, 2015 at her house on North Broad Street in an investigation conducted by the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force under the supervision of Lunenburg Deputy Sheriff Adam Martin.

Clement said the active sentence is within the recommendation of the Sentencing Guidelines.  

Thomas also has previous convictions of Possessing Cocaine in 1995 and 2000, Possession of Marijuana in 2001, the two Distribution charges in 2003, Possession of Cocaine in 2006 and 2008 in Newport News, Embezzlement in 2012, and Possession of Marijuana in 2015.

In addition to the active sentence of nine years, Thomas will have an additional 31 years of suspended time subject to conditions of good behavior for 40 years, supervised probation for three years upon her release, counseling, warrantless searches for five years, and restitution to the Virginia State Police for the “buy-money” and “informant’s fees” in the amount of $470.00.
