Last Tuesday the Lady Statesmen JV Softball team traveled to Altavista to compete.  Lead-off batter for the Statesmen, Hannah Pasciuta, battled at the plate with a full count and several foul balls before hitting one over the fence for a Homerun.  Hallie Watson, pitcher for the Statesmen, gave up three walks in the first inning.  This allowed Altavista the base runners they needed to secure four runs before Watson closed the inning with a strikeout.  Pasciuta scored again in the 3rd on a hit by Watson.  Altavista scored in the 5th increasing their lead to 5-3.  In the 6th, Alyssa Rapole got on base with a walk and scored on a hard hit ball to right center by Kelsi Letterman.  Cheyanne Newcomb got a base hit in the 7th and stole around to 3rd, but was unable to score. The Lady Statesmen were defeated 10-3.

Thursday, the Lady Statesmen hosted Buckingham.  Buckingham lead off with several base-hits giving them two runs in the 1st.  Leighan Payne got a base hit in the first for the Statesmen, but was unable to score.  The Statesmen did not get another base-hit until the bottom of the 5th.  Letterman, Chelsey Aliff, H. Pasciuta, and Newcomb all got on base and 3 runs scored.  Anna Pasciuta and Sydney Nichols both scored in the 6th, but the Statesmen were unable to go ahead.  Final score Statesmen 5 – Buckingham 6.
