The Central Chargers JV baseball team moved to 2-2 on the season with a win over Nottoway that saw them hold off a last inning rally to preserve a 10-9 win.

Central opened up the scoring as Noah Dunbar singled and scored on an Austin Alphin single in the first. Nottoway would be kept off the board early on by Jackson Dalton, who started on the mound for Central.

The second inning would see Central held without a run, while Nottoway got the bats rolling and plated 5 runners to move ahead 5-1 heading to the third inning.  Alphin would come to the mound for Central in a relief appearance and stem the Nottoway offensive momentum with good pitching.

Central would answer back in the top of the third as Micajah Paynter and Alphin both singled and scored on a Jackson Parsons single that made the score 5-3.

The fourth inning saw Nottoway add two more runs and move ahead 7-3.

In the fifth inning, the Chargers got three of those runs back as Paynter singled to reach base again, Parsons doubled and Dalton singled. All three players would score during the rally and Central trailed 7-6 as the teams went to the sixth inning.

Central would get two more runs the next inning as Paynter and Alphin both singled to get things started and scored on a Daryl Jones double to give Central their first lead since the first inning. Nottoway would score one run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game as the teams headed to the final inning.

John McGrath would get things started with a single and he would score as Cary Parrish reached base. Parrish would also score and Central led by two runs. In the bottom of the last inning, Nottoway would score to get within one run, but with a runner on third, Parrish, who had come in to close the game, got a strikeout to seal the win for the JV Chargers.
