Join the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts for a quick trip to Mexico! Children and their families are invited to create festive bundles of paper marigolds and papel picado banners for their annual Dia de los Muertos celebration! On Saturday, October 19th, from 10 a.m. through 12 noon, the art center hosts its Día de los Muertos: Celebration of Life workshop, with Mexican fun, food, and fantastico art activities! The event is free and open to the public; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Celebrated around the world, the Día de los Muertos honors the lives of our loved ones, past and present. The holiday provides opportunities for kids to make maracas, create paper flowers, decorate sugar skulls, and more! With the exception of pumpkins, the LCVA will supply everything you’ll need, from snacks to supplies to assistants.

Mexico’s Celebration of Life is part of a series of free family workshops offered by the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts. Workshops are designed to bring the family together in an enriching and creative environment to celebrate annual events throughout the year.

The LCVA is located at 129 North Main Street in Farmville. Admission is free and open to the public. For further information on this or other programs and events, call the LCVA at 434-395-2206.
