John Larry Elgin

John Larry Elgin, age 69, of Charlotte Court House, Virginia passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on February 21, 2014.

He was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on August 4, 1944 to Mary Frances Harris and John Daniel Elgin. He served in the US Army from 1962-1965 and was a decorated Sharpshooter and Marksman. He later became a Game Warden in Charlotte County and after his commission he worked as a Correctional Officer. He was a great man who spent his life serving his community. He will be dearly missed by his family: his mother; Mary F. Elgin Lester; his children, Vincent Kyle Elgin of Richmond, Va., Kimberly E. Wade of Charlotte C.H., Va., John Keith Elgin and wife Tammy; his grandchildren, Abbi E. Seid (J.P.), John Thomas Elgin, Thomas Scott Elgin, Dallas Marie Elgin; one great grand-daughter, Leana Merida Seid, all of Charlotte C.H., Va.; two sisters, Judith E. Long of Chester, Va., and Deborah K. Elgin of Richmond, Va. and a brother, Robert “Bobby” C. Elgin of Richmond, Va.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Daniel Elgin, on September 25, 1981.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. to be followed by a funeral service in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m.
