John Faris Lyle Obituary

Keysville, Va.

John Faris Lyle of Keysville, Virginia passed away on October 15, 2016.

 He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Martin and Jerry Canada and Betty and Eddie Hudson; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Jay, Jesse, and Lindsey; and one great grand-daughter, Emma Imhof. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Johnny was born April 7, 1923 in Keysville. He was a life long member of Briery Presbyterian Church. He served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps and returned home after the war to help his father and brother Bill run the family-owned appliance dealership in Keysville. Aside from spending time with his family and church, Johnny was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and continued to hunt into his 80’s.

Johnny was predeceased by his wife, Libby, his parents, Matthew and Isabelle Lyle, three brothers, Matt Jr., Bill, and Dru, and one sister, Blair.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 18 at Briery Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. in Keysville; afterwards, the family will receive friends at visitation in the fellowship hall of the church.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Briery Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice. Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
