James Lee Messer Obituary

Keysville, Va.

James Lee “Sarge” Messer, 72, of Keysville, Virginia, passed away, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at McGuire Veterans Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00p.m., Tuesday, February 7th at Crewe United Methodist Church, 607 E. Georgia Ave., Crewe, Va. Pastor Christina Perkins will be officiating. He will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.

Born in Iowa, graduate of  Ida Grove High School, where he excelled in sports, Jim retired from the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He also was a salesman for Colonial Ford Truck Sales in Richmond, Va.

Preceded in death by Loraine and Floyd Messer, parents; Julie (daughter), and Anthony (son). He is survived by his children, Jenni Schodt and Abbi Messer; grandchildren, Kaylee, Alden, Nathaniel, and Eliana; and siblings Jerry and Judy.
