James E. Emerick Obituary

James E. Emerick, “Jimmy,” of Keysville went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 18, 2017. He was born in Annapolis, Md. on April 5, 1939.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia L. Emerick; his son, James Randel Emerick (Catherine) of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Susie Buchanan (Darin) of Orlando, FL, Windy Cantrell (Tommy) of Jacksonville, FL, Candace Cooper Adkins (Gary) of Kissimmee, FL; and eight grandchildren.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist. He worked for the Federal Government on special projects. Jimmy also worked at the Annapolis Shipyards, the Naval Training Center in Orlando, and at the University of North Carolina.  Jimmy was an accomplished machinist. He received many special achievement awards during his career including an award from NASA for his outstanding contribution on the Orbital Space Project and an award from University of North Carolina for his precision machining and design work.  He retired from the University of North Carolina and then moved to Keysville.   He will be remembered for his patriotic spirit, his quick wit and his devotion to his wife and to his little Scottie, Heather. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Va. is serving the family.
