It’s True! Scientific Method Is Limited

logo-hevenerAlthough we live in an age in which many people, especially relativists, materialists, and self-proclaimed intellectuals, see truth as a moving target, a matter of personal opinion, God’s Word clearly teaches that there is an objective truth;  God and His word are in that category.  Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6.)  Again, the Bible teaches that we shall be judged by the Ten Commandments, the Law of Liberty, not by any man’s opinion or by the teachings of any group of men, including churchmen. The Ten Commandments are a perpetual summary of man’s moral responsibility to his Creator and to his fellow-man. (James 2: 8-12.)

True scientists realize that scientific method is designed to discover physical truth, not supernatural, spiritual, truth.   The thinking scientist agrees that a non-existent physical world could not bring itself into existence. The physical world was created by the Supernatural Creator of Genesis, Chapters 1-3.  Spontaneous generation is totally, fully rejected by reputable scientists.  Rejecting the supernatural is rejecting one’s own existence, for the life that we experience as human beings, is a supernatural miracle that is beyond the domain of science and out of the scope of scientific method.  Life is the most precious possession of every man, woman, and child.  Billionaires are willing to drain their bank accounts for a few more days and months of life.

Remember, all persons who call themselves scientists are not necessarily scientists. Many of them are nothing more than hawkers of erroneous traditions and opinion.  Some have been proven to be peddlers of “made-up facts.”  Some such “scientists” promote the laughable theory that human, plant, and animal life came about by chance; their childish view goes something like this:

The astonishingly intricate and predictable solar system came about by chance.

One kind (species) can produce another kind (macro-evolution); according to their theory, a horse could, by chance and over time, produce, a cow.

Serious thinkers realize that such superficial conclusions are not scientific and are nothing but speculation and contrary to human reason, human experience, and God’s Word.

Now, let’s look at several examples of dishonesty in the world of “science.”

1. A collection of stones was brought to Johann Beringer, the chair of natural history at the University of Würzburg, by a few of his students. There were almost 2,000 stones, some carved with images of “lizards in their skin, birds with beaks and eyes, spiders with their webs, and frogs copulating,” the Guardian writes. Others had astronomical objects and Hebrew letters etched into them. Beringer speculated that the stones were fossilized relics …, rejecting the idea that they were manmade. In fact, he was so sure that he wrote an entire book about it.

The fallout: Just as Beringer’s book was published, the boys brought Beringer one last stone. The stone was etched with Beringer’s name. It turns out the stones had been planted by two of Beringer’s colleagues. They became known as “lying stones.”

2. A novel gadget, the brainchild of a man named Charles Redheffer, took much of the scientific community by storm. It was a machine that remained in perpetual motion, never stopping — a perpetual motion machine.

The fallout: After noticing a slight wobble in the machine, a skeptical mechanical engineer named Robert Fulton challenged Redheffer, claiming that he could find the mechanism keeping the machine in motion. He did just that. It turns out that the machine’s source of unstoppable energy was an old man in an attic, turning the crank while munching on a piece of bread.

3. The find: a humanlike skull, an apelike jawbone with two worn molar teeth, some stone tools, and fragments of animal fossils all discovered in a gravel pit by Charles Dawson, a professional lawyer and amateur fossil hunter.

The skull, which “scientists” decided came from a creature nicknamed Piltdown Man, who walked the earth thousands of years ago, was hailed as the missing evolutionary link between apes and humans.

However, in the 1950s, scientists reexamined the bones. They found that the upper skull was much younger than the jawbone, which scientists now think came from an orangutan; the “find” was only a few decades old. They also found that the fossils were stained with a chemical to make them appear aged.

It turns out that Dawson had planted the fossils. But he was long dead before his discoveries were proven to be a hoax.

Yes, man’s word is frequently unreliable and often in error; however, God’s Word shall never pass away. (Luke 21:33.)

Until next week, may God richly bless you and yours!
