It’s all about power…

There are a couple of gazillionaires in America who are complaining about the rich and how little taxes they pay and how it isn’t fair. Well, blow me up and call me a bullfrog, money is the one thing that is always easy to give away. They want to complain about other folks who have money but you don’t hear about them giving theirs away often.

stump countyAs Pastor Flock says, “As some rich folks get older, they can hear and smell the fires of hell and suddenly decide to give some money away.”

Others give theirs to political parties in a transparent attempt to buy political power.

It’s all about power, prestige and money for them.

We keep hearing folks talk about the “one percenters” on the radio. It seems that one percent of Americans have 50 percent of the wealth.

There is this guy that makes movies named Michael Moore. Michael is worth 50 million dollars, making him a “one percenter.” What he wants to do is pretend he is one of the “99 percent” and he keeps blathering about making the “one percenters” share their wealth.

You have to understand he isn’t really a “one percenter” because he is using his wealth wisely and is socially responsible. He thinks he is qualified to handle his money and to make decisions for others whereas the other “one percenters” are just greedy.

He wants to take money from the other “one percenters” and give it to the “99 percenters.”

What he seems to be doing is trading on his “one percenter” status to complain about the other “one percenters” to get power by pimping for Yo Mama.

First of all, he is wrong about the percent. The top one percent own 35.6 percent of the assets in America. Secondly, if he would take a little history, economics or math class he would understand if they took everything owned by the one percent and divided it between the rest of us, the economy would collapse and within a few years there would be a new crop of “one percenters” and that’s not counting the ones like Moore who think they should keep their share and what is stolen by the folks doing the dividing.

Here in Stump County we would be happy if all of us could reach the official poverty level. Our goal is for everyone to be able to eat 2000 calories a day, which is the recommended daily allowance.

We saw a picture of that Michael Moore. Cletus, who is used to buying and selling livestock and can estimate the weight of a cow calf, pig or goat within a few pounds, estimates Moore weighs between 450 and 500 pounds making him a “one percenter” in the weight class. Putting that much weight on anything takes a bunch of calories. We’d guess Moore is consuming more calories than 10 average Americans and think he should be sharing the calories as well as his fifty million if sharing is so important to him.

Everybody wants to blather about “sharing the wealth” but nobody wants to even consider sharing the work.
