It Ain’t Broke But Let’s Fix It Anyway

Our elected officials are trying to fix the internet. They say “It ain’t fair.”  As I’ve often said and told my children when they were younger and even yesterday, Life ain’t fair.

logo- government grumblingsSome people are better looking. Some are smarter. Some people have more advantages simply from wisely choosing a stork that delivered them to an affluent house. Some people are better at sports. Some people are musically talented. Some can sing or dance or fix things. People are different and life ain’t fair. Even a person with limited intellectual ability should have realized that by now without my telling them.

Yet, somehow our elected officials think they can fix that. Keep in mind that health insurance wasn’t fair. So they fixed it so it was unfair to a different group of people. Apparently two un-fairs make a fair.

The best I can figure out, their problem with the internet is that some people are paying different rates for different service and “that ain’t fair.”

If Congress could show us a single case where Government interference actually fixed a situation and made it fair to everyone it would be a different story BUT all I see is a history of failures. If Congress were working for a private company most of them would have been fired and they would have been replaced by someone who could succeed. That would be fair.

In any case, Congress is working on “Net Neutrality.”  That should be our first warning. Anytime you are offered something where the name doesn’t match the intended result they are trying to pull something over on you.

Apparently what some people don’t like is that people get different rates for internet service. Some people have faster service and more service.

The real problem with the internet (in their minds) is that it is fair. They also don’t like that contrary to Al Gore’s claims, the government didn’t build it. More importantly (to them) the government doesn’t control it.

Let’s face it. The internet ain’t fair. Some of us have great internet and others do not. It is just like anything else. We bought our office building just so we would be located where we could get great service. On the other hand our service at home is little better than dial-up. That’s life.

Another issue for the Government-controlling-everything-freaks is that prices vary. Again that’s life. If I buy one apple it may cost me a dollar. Two are cheaper. A bushel is even cheaper and a truckload is even less.  To the control freaks everyone should have to buy and pay for a truck load of apples even if they only want one.  If you don’t believe me just look at your NEW health care.

One size doesn’t fit all. That applies to clothes, health care, internet service and fairness.

Demand your right to choose the size that fits you OR if you prefer, one that doesn’t fit at all. The real fair is that we all get to choose what we want to consume without the Government forcing companies to offer one size fits all and then forcing us to take it.
