farmvillestructurefireLast Wednesday, the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 602 Griffin Blvd. for a fully involved structure fire.

The call came in at approximately 11:57 p.m., and Farmville Engine 2 was first to arrive on scene followed by Farmville Truck 1. It was discovered that the structure was NOT fully involved, however the back of the building was ablaze which included two bedrooms, a porch and storage unit.

According to Farmville Fire Dept. Chief Andrew Goss, the crew on Farmville Engine 2 attacked the fire from the inside, but was forced to back out. Farmville Truck 1 attacked the flames from outside of the structure and contained it enough so that Crew 2 was able to go back in and clear it up.

After the fire was put out, salvage covers were placed over items to prevent any further damage. Fire crews from Farmville, Hampden-Sydney and Prospect were on the scene until everything was cleared at around 5 a.m.
