Income Inequality & Other Ridiculous Politically Correct Ideas

I just watched the socialist candidate for President, Bernie Sanders, explain why everybody supports income equality. What an idiot.

logo- government grumblingsI expect at least several letters explaining why I shouldn’t call Bernie an idiot and I will address that at the end of this editorial.

By the way, Old Bernie has a net worth of almost 11 million dollars. That is $11,000,000.00. I don’t know who is going to be equal to whom but if Bernie wants income equality with me he is going to have to give me almost half of his.

The fact is the people who support income equality only want income equality with those who are currently making more than they. Well, I guess you have to include Bernie who only supports it as a shameless ploy to get votes from people who probably won’t vote anyway but he obviously doesn’t think HIS income should be included.

Anyone who truly supports equality could easily share their income with those who are making less and prove they really support equality.

The fact is that income equality is an impossible pipe dream that has been tried and has failed every time it has been tried. You would think a 100 percent failure rate would make Bernie wonder. Remember the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.  The Soviet Union tried it and failed as have several dozen other countries. Of course they had leaders (like Bernie) who made more but they found a justification for that. They tried equality at Jamestown and it wasn’t until people were allowed to benefit from their own work that Jamestown succeeded.

The British tried equality with the Australian Penal Colonies and it wasn’t until they allowed private gardens and let the growers keep half of the produce that they produced enough to survive.

You may remember the Bible story where the employer hired workers at different times during the day and then paid them all for the full day. Although those who worked all day were paid for the day they were unhappy that those who worked less were paid the same. This is human nature.

No one would be happy on a job where everyone made the same money for different jobs, different hours and different responsibilities. No business could survive on those terms. Everyone would be unhappy except those who aren’t doing anything and those who weren’t working would cause trouble.

Suppose I proposed “Beer Equality.”  You would call me an idiot and you would be correct. Beer Equality makes as much sense as Income Equality.  Every American would be allotted the same amount of beer each day and every brand of beer would cost the same. Each person would be required to consume their allotment and only their allotment. That is what equality is all about, with income or beer.

Or we could enact Beverage Equality. All beverages would cost the same per serving. Beer, milk, water, wine or orange juice would all cost the same. It really makes sense; after all, there is less difference between beer and orange juice than there is between the abilities and work habits of people.

Then again, maybe we could allow people the freedom to choose their own jobs and beer and keep the Government out of it.
