Hometown Holidays will come alive on Sunday, December 1, as Farmville Downtown is transformed into a virtual “Candy Land” for the Farmville Jaycees Christmas Parade. The annual event promises excitement for all ages with bands, floats, music, and the Farmville’s first official visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself. This year, the fun continues into the evening with Illumination at Crute Stage immediately following the parade.

Located at the corner of North Main and Fourth Streets in Farmville Downtown, Crute Stage will be transformed with lights, Christmas trees, and wrapped packages adding to the merriment. The Holistic Moms Network Southside Virginia chapter, the Town of Farmville, and Farmville Downtown Partnership have teamed to present this year’s festivities featuring the High Bridge Railroad Club’s Open House, the soul-stirring sounds of Lobo Marino, and the Waterworks Players’ cast of Treasure Island.

The Illumination celebration continues with Stars Under the Stars’ presentation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the 1966 feature film narrated by Boris Karloff, a performance by Ashley “Hoopgirl” Russell, and an appearance by the Grinch himself, courtesy of Rochette’s Florist.

Rounding out the night will be hot chocolate and cookies by Farmville United Methodist Church will be available, along with a new toy donation booth by the Farmville Area Kiwanis Club.

The public is invited to join in the celebration at this free community event. Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended for the event scheduled for a 7 pm conclusion. For more details and updates, visit the “Illumination” event page onfacebook.com/naturalpHuel orfacebook.com/downtownfarmville.
