Illegal Still, Moonshine Seized in Search

A Pamplin man is currently being held at the Piedmont Regional Jail under no bond, after a search warrant resulted in the discovery of illegal alcohol at his residence.

Moonshine (2)On February 17, 2014, Prince Edward County Sheriff Deputy Andy Cary and Lt. Richard Hurak Sr. were at the residence of Robert Cameron Thompson investigating reports of threats over the phone and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when the findings were made.

Sheriff Wesley Reed stated in a press release that the Virginia State Police Tact-Team worked in accordance with the Sheriff’s Office in the execution of a search warrant based on the mentioned charges.

It was also noted in the press release from the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office that “During the course of the search of the residence located at 700 Gilliam Reynolds Lane, Pamplin, Virginia, Lt. Hurak came upon what he believed to be illegal alcohol. Sheriff Wesley Reed stated that with the execution of a second search warrant Deputy Cary, Sgt. Robbie Franklin and Lt. Hurak discovered a still with approximately (19) gallons of illegal alcohol, “Moonshine,” and components for making illegal alcohol. Sheriff Reed advised that 44-year-old Robert Cameron Thompson of Pamplin has been arrested on two (2) counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one (1) count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, one (1) count possession of a still, one (1) count of manufacturing illegal alcohol, and one (1) count of possession of a firearm while manufacturing illegal alcohol.”
