Human Skeletal Remains Found in Chase City

According to a report from Chief Jay Jordan of the Chase City Police Department, police were notified to respond to North Main St. in Chase City to a field adjacent to Dollar General on Tuesday, November 21, at approximately 1:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officer A. DeSantis was met by a contracting crew hired out by Dominion Power to cut right-of-ways, whose employees had discovered skeletal remains in a grassy field.

Chase City Police Department officers, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s deputies, investigators, crime scene unit and Virginia State Police responded to the scene and were on location for several hours.

This is being treated as a death investigation. The remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s officer in Richmond for positive identification and possible cause of death.
