Hite Honored for Work at KPD

KENBRIDGE – Kenbridge officials recently hosted the annual dinner for the town and county officials as a celebration of the groups working together for the citizens throughout Lunenburg.

During the event, one member of the Kenbridge Town Council, who also serves as Kenbridge Police Chief, got a surprise award for his years of service to the town.

Kenbridge officials recognized Police Chief Raymond Hite, Jr. with a certificate of appreciation for his 10 years of service to the department and town. Hite has been with the police force for a decade and was promoted to chief approximately three years ago.

While working at the department, Hite also completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Axia College and is a certified instructor in firearms, radar, taser and is a certified field trainer for new hires.

He has also been active in procuring grants that have allowed upgrades to the department, including body cameras, vehicle upgrades, and other software purchases that allow the KPD to host training and regional events at the location.

Hite is a Kenbridge resident along with his wife of 13 years, Susan. He has four children and five grandchildren.

He stated, “I just want to thank Mayor Emory Hodges and all of the town council members for their support of myself and the Kenbridge Police Department.”
