Hay Bale Crushes Top of Car as Vehicles Meet

VICTORIA – An unusual traffic accident last week saw the top of a car crushed but the driver and passenger escaped injury.

The accident took place on November 25, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of 6^th Street and Wilson in Victoria. A car driven by Jennifer Royster was passing a truck that was hauling large hay bales on a trailer behind it. As the vehicles met on the road, several bales fell off of the trailer and one of them landed directly on top of the car.

The driver of the truck hauling the hay was identified as John Smithson and he was cited by Victoria Police Officer Mike Landry for a traffic infraction of failure to secure a load.

According to reports, the car was owned by Chris Dewey and likely was a total loss as a result of the accident.
