Hardy Road Improvement Application Approved

Location Has Been the Site of Fatalities and Accidents

LUNENBURG – Lunenburg Supervisors and local Virginia Department of Transportation officials have heard the concerns by local citizens regarding a dangerous curve along Route 675 (Hardy Road).

This section of the road that is in close proximity to the Lunenburg Courthouse has been the site of several fatalities and bad accidents through the years. The area has also seen an increase in traffic along the road because of the growing landfill operation run by Container First Services along Route 659.

For this reason, Lunenburg officials have submitted a HB2 application that would realign this dangerous curve and intersection along Hardy Road.

The HB2 bill was signed into law on 2014 by Governor Terry McAuliffe in order to help prioritize the process of selecting transportation projects to be funded. The process will score projects based on analysis that is applied statewide.
