Handmade Afghan to be Raffled Off in Pamplin

Once again the fine folks in Pamplin have come together for some fund raising for the Pamplin Depot Restoration Fund; this time a generous and talented anonymous donor has given a lovely handmade afghan to be raffled off along with a gift basket full of goodies. The afghan is suitable for a large lap blanket and features warm fall colors of green, orange, and beige with fun multi-colored elements of brighter colors.

Tickets, which are $3 apiece or two for $5, are available at the Pamplin Town Office, Tolley’s Market in Pamplin, in Appomattox at the J. R. Jamerson Library on Main St. and from individuals within the community. Only 90 tickets will be sold, making the odds of winning pretty good for all participants and assuring the Depot Fund will receive at least $225 as a result of this generous donation.

The benefactor of this fundraising event, the Pamplin Depot Restoration Fund, is being used to help pay for the ongoing restoration of the Depot building with an eye to providing a venue for the Performing Arts in our small town to bring music, dance, arts, and hopefully one day even plays and other performances to an appreciative Pamplin audience. One look at the lovely building will show what a worthwhile enterprise this has been; the restored building is home to the Pamplin Town Office, the Library, a Community Room for meetings and the large Freight Room which is used for monthly Old Time Dances and other events including weddings and private parties. More work remains to be done so fundraisers of this kind will continue. Take advantage of the good odds to win and support this community effort by purchasing your raffle tickets today. As soon as all 90 tickets are sold the drawing will be held and the lucky winner notified.
