The Central Middle School Gymnasium was filled with music and excitement as players took to the court on Saturday, June 20 for the Adult Basketball Tournament Fundraiser. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Charlotte County Recreation Association (CCRA) to aide in the building of Westpoint Park, located in Drakes Branch. Hosted by CCRA Director James Gregory and 2003 graduate of Randolph-Henry High School Monique Williams, the event attracted loads of supporters from the surrounding areas.

adulttournament3Five teams put up a hard fight in the double-elimination style tournament for the championship trophy and bragging rights. Participating teams included: Go Gettas (Charlotte County), Hit Squad (Charlotte County), J&M Moving (Richmond), Rock Solid (Charlottesville/Appomattox), and Trophy Hunters (Lunenburg County). After a tough battle, team Rock Solid was awarded the first-place trophy, with Trophy Hunters receiving the second-place win.

“I want to thank everyone that participated and came out to support this special event. A lot of planning went into making this tournament happen, including gathering sponsors and even getting the t-shirts and trophies for participants,” said CCRA Director Gregory. “It was great to see everyone dancing, enjoying the door prizes, contests, and games. We hope to make this an annual event.”
