Fuqua Bands Win Trophies

Recently eighty-five band students from Fuqua School in grades 5 through 8 participated in the Music in the Parks competition in Williamsburg. There were thirteen instrumental ensembles and seventeen choral ensembles that represented seventeen schools from Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania.Both of Fuqua School’s bands received a rating of excellent. Fuqua School’s 5th and 6th Grade Band placed first in the Elementary Class A Concert Band Competition and the Junior Band placed first in the Junior High Class A Concert Band Competition. In addition to the first place trophies, Fuqua School was awarded the Esprit de Corps Award which is given based on spirit, conduct, enthusiasm, performance and appearance.
