Funds for New Cafeteria Equipment Approved

FARMVILLE – The Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a request from the public school system to appropriate $58,812 from the Cafeteria Fund to purchase new cafeteria equipment for the middle and elementary schools.

According to the County Administrator’s Office, per federal requirements the Cafeteria Fund cannot have a fund balance greater than the federal reimbursement three-month average which is $400,820.64. The fund balance in the Cafeteria Fund at the end of FY17 is $457,335.88. Approving this appropriation will decrease the fund balance to $398,543.88.

The approved funds will be used to purchase a dishwasher and steamer at the Middle School and refrigeration units for fruits and vegetables and sneeze guards for serving lines at the elementary school.
