Frederick Louis Daniel “Fritz” Hoffman went home to be with Jesus on July 13, 2013, at the tender age of 22.  He died in a tragic single-car accident in Goochland, Virginia, in which he was the passenger.  He was loved and will be missed by many because of his zeal for life and the endearing friendships he made.

Fred, as his college friends had come to call him, was born in Cody, Wyoming, on August 31, 1990.  He loved the outdoors and grew up camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends.  He moved to Sterling, Virginia in 2002, and was quickly dubbed the “Wild Man from Wyoming” as he led other neighborhood boys on forays into the woods between his house and the Potomac River.  From his first set of Legos, Fritz determined to be an engineer and a bridge builder.  After graduating from Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, Fritz attended Virginia Tech securing his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a Green Engineering Minor in May 2013.

Fritz and his friends would hunt and fish or play golf at every opportunity.  His enthusiasm for life was contagious and he pursued his dreams and recreation with an infectious fervor.  His love of Jesus Christ and profession of faith secures his place in heaven and comforts those other believers still here on earth in knowing that they will see Fritz again.  His life was too short; his bright future was still ahead of him; and fond memories of him will never diminish and remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his father, mother, and sister, Paul, Lisa, and Desiree Hoffman of Prospect, Virginia; his grandmothers, Sharon Powell of Cody, WY, and Dava Hoffman of Prescott, AZ; his aunts and uncles, Katie Brass of Cody, WY, Louise Abbott of Solana Beach, CA, Mindy (and Richard) Gullen of Roberts, MT, Kris (and Lisa) Powell of Fallon, NV, Nicholas (and Ruthie) Powell of Clarksville, TN, and too many cousins to mention.

Puckett Funeral Home of Farmville, Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.  The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia, with interment to follow at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Elam, Va.  In lieu of flowers, people may make donations to the Virginia Tech Chapter of Ducks Unlimited in the name of Fred Hoffman.
