Former Charlotte Co. Man Killed Following Dispute

HALIFAX – The Virginia State Police and Halifax County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to investigate a shooting that left a former Charlotte County resident dead.

Donald Rodney Stone, age 48, currently of Crystal Hill, was pronounced dead at his home on Hodges Street from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police were called to the residence around 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 after reports of shots being fired between two individuals.

According to police reports, both Stone and a male individual who shared his residence had weapons. Stone allegedly brandished his weapon and his male roommate fired at him in turn, striking him.
