Father’s Day

Summer is here! Kids are out of school. Daylight lingers into the night. Work takes on a little saner pace. And Father’s Day arrives.

logo-Stephen CrottsI challenge you dads to focus on your family. You’ll have nearly nine weeks. Maybe your relationships are broken. You’ve quit talking, laughing, having fun. All the love in your home has drained out. Alienation looms over your home.

But I encourage you not to quit. Why, if your business was bad, you’d redouble your efforts to fix it. How much more so your family deserves that.

Enter your child’s world. Swim with them. Cook out. Lie on your back in the grass and watch a meteor shower. Tell jokes. Go to a movie together.  Build a tree house. Share your life story. Inquire of theirs. Listen!

Take your wife shopping. Open the car door for her. Go to dinner, a concert. Church.

Ask God to help you restore your home and fill it with love again. It’s not hopeless. Besides, God is on the side of reconciliation.

Nothing you ever do will bring you more satisfaction in life than knowing Jesus and building a happy home. So, get to it, Dads! Summer is a good time to start.
