LUNENBURG – A fatal accident in Lunenburg last week that claimed the life of a Nottoway County resident is still under investigation.
Virginia State Police officials issued a statement earlier this week. “Trooper W.N. Campbell is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Lunenburg County. The crash occurred July 3, 2019 at 7:16 p.m. on Route 637, approximately 1 mile south of Route 719.”
A 2007 Ford Focus was traveling along Route 637 when it ran off the right side of the highway. Its driver over-corrected the vehicle, which brought it back across the roadway. The Ford then ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver, Rayshawn L. McFarland, 25, of Blackstone, Va., was transported to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
