The Farmville Police Department is investigating an incident that took place last Friday afternoon in which two females were approached by a man claiming to be an officer.

According to Detective Entrekin, the incident took place around 2:30 p.m. while the two females were waiting at the bus stop in the Food Lion parking lot.

The suspect was described as a medium brown skin male with short hair, between the age of 40 and 50, approximately six feet tall, and was wearing grey sweatpants, a grey sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.

The man did not show a badge nor say he was with any certain police department or agency. He only claimed to be “an officer.” Detective Entrekin said that the man did use his last name when identifying as an officer but the females could not recall it. “When he introduced himself as an officer they took it to mean police officer,” added Detective Entrekin.

The suspect, who was not in a vehicle, approached the two females on foot and offered them a ride to their residences. When they declined, he left the scene.

Detective Entrekin pointed out, “All Farmville police officers carry their badge and a department issued photo ID when engaged in law enforcement activities.”

Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call Detective Entrekin at (434) 392-3332.
