FARMVILLE – At approximately 1:41 a.m. on Sunday, February 21st, Farmville police responded to a report of people arguing in the Walmart parking lot at 1800 Peery Dr.  Officers arrived to find a male and female subject arguing beside a parked vehicle.  As officers attempted to defuse the situation, the male subject, later identified as Preston Logan, Jr., age 23, of Kenbridge, Va. reportedly became increasingly belligerent and disorderly.  An officer attempted to take Logan into custody for Drunk in Public and Disorderly Conduct when a struggle ensued.  During the altercation, an officer was struck in the face, causing minor injuries.  The officer’s uniform shirt was also ripped and torn.  The suspect was eventually taken into custody and charged with Felony Assault and Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Destruction of Property, and Drunk in Public.  Marijuana was later found in Logan’s pants pocket which led to a Possession of Marijuana charge.  Logan was transported to Piedmont Regional Jail where he was held on a $15,000 secured bond.
