fire photoA house fire at 385 Crymes Orchard Road beside Terry Lane near Keysville was contained by five local fire companies Monday morning.  Keysville, Drakes Branch,  Bacon District, Meherrin and Charlotte Court House responded to the Monday morning blaze. Keysville Fire Chief Lynn Duffey credited the fast response time with saving the home although the smoke and intense heat totally destroyed the contents.  The majority of fire damage was contained in the bedrooms.   The neighbor who saw the smoke and reported the fire stated the family dog was in the home at the time.  It is believed the dog died of smoke inhalation prior to the arrival of the fire departments.
