Stuart Fallen, the current Clerk of the Circuit Court for Charlotte County, has withdrawn his petition for candidacy for the upcoming election. Mr. Fallen has held the position with the County since 1976, making him the second longest running Clerk of the Court in the state of Virginia. There has been some speculation about whether or not Mr. Fallen was going to run again this year for the Clerk’s position. When asked for a statement in a telephone interview with the Southside Messenger, Mr. Fallen initially said, “I have nothing to say at this time.” He, however, went on to tell the Messenger, “I have withdrawn my petition for candidacy.” He then added, “The deadline is not until June 9th.”

Nan Collie, who currently serves as the Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court in Charlotte County, has announced her candidacy for the position of Clerk of the Circuit Court in the upcoming election.
