Edwin Alphonso CarterMr. Edwin Alphonso “Al” Carter, 67, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Chase City Nursing and Rehab, Chase City, VA.

Mr. Carter was born in Mecklenburg County, VA November 3, 1946 to Robert L. and the late Beatrice Wood Carter. He was a 1967 graduate of West End High School, Skipwith, VA and a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mr. Carter was also a member of the NAACP. He owned and operated Carter’s Painting Service.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Myrtle Harper; two brothers, Langston and Jemel L. Carter and one sister, Virginia Hicks.

Cherishing his memories are three children, Catina L. Carter of Chase City, VA, Shirelle Bullock (Anthony) of Stovall, NC, and Garrett Cheatham (De Anna) of Emporia, VA; 6 grandchildren, Janya, Ma Kayla, Jarrett, Aniya, Jordan and Justis; his father, Robert L. Carter of Chase City, VA; one sister, Jerri Carter of Chesapeake, VA; four brothers, Robert L. Watts (Josephine) of Skipwith, VA, Larry Carter (Irene) of Chase City, VA , Robert M. Carter and Frankie Carter; one aunt; special nephew, Calvin Carter and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Edwin Alphonso Carter will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Silone Memorial Garden. Public viewing for family and friends will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
