E.W. Jackson Takes a Stand on Religion

I don’t understand the excitement generated by Candidate E. W. Jackson’s statement last week. He has been receiving a lot of critical press for saying the religion he follows is the only true one.

Jackson is a Christian minister. If he didn’t believe it is the only true religion he would be a fraud.

In fact, everyone who truly believes the basic tenets of their faith believes they are the only true believers.

What Jackson said is in keeping with his stated beliefs. He said, “Any time you say, ‘There is no other means of salvation but through Jesus Christ, and if you don’t know Him and you don’t follow Him and you don’t go through Him, you are engaged in some sort of false religion,’ that’s controversial. But it’s the truth.” Bishop E.W. Jackson is quoted as stating during a sermon preached this past weekend at Restoration Fellowship Church in Strasburg, Virginia, “Jesus said, ‘I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me.’”

I know people who sincerely follow various religions and all believe they have the only correct answer. Interestingly, even Atheists believe they have the only answer. Those who believe life on earth was seeded by aliens believe they have the only answer. Agnostics believe they have the only answers.

Those who claim they follow a religion BUT with a disclaimer, don’t follow any religion. “I am a Buddhist BUT…I am a Christian BUT…I am a Dispensationalist BUT… I am an Evangelical BUT… I am a…

Even those who really believe in nothing believe everyone else is wrong. Those who believe “the paths are many” when it comes to eternity believe everyone who doesn’t agree with them is wrong.

Most importantly, those who are criticizing E.W. Jackson for stating what he believes are stating he is wrong because he doesn’t believe what they believe.

Their attitude is “If you don’t believe what I believe you are not only wrong but you are (insert various insults and character defects here).” The difference is they won’t state their beliefs (unlike Jackson) so no one knows what they believe.

I believe that those who are criticizing Jackson are not upset with what he said, they are upset that he doesn’t agree with them. They are also upset because he is an honest politician which is something we don’t see very often. He is taking a stand on his beliefs, he is not playing the blame game.

Those who choose to vote for E. W. Jackson will know in advance where he stands on his religion, his politics and on social issues. We don’t get that opportunity very often.
