On Monday morning March 16, the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a dump truck abandoned in the middle of a field on Wards Road in Lunenburg County. The investigation revealed a 1976 GMC truck with farm use plates. The truck had been used to cut donuts in the field before becoming stuck and abandoned.

rufus Due to the age of the vehicle, the VIN could not be run but Deputy Atkinson of the Sheriff’s office found papers in the truck identifying the owner as Edward Averett Jones of Keysville. Jones stated he had left the truck parked at the Keysville Fire House and had not removed the keys. It is believed the truck was stolen Saturday night. The truck was last seen Sunday morning at 7:50 a.m. on Highway 40 heading east from Keysville. Anyone with information on this incident should contact Deputy Atkinson at 434-696-4452.
