Drug Take Back Nets 94 lbs. of Unused Pills

Longwood University Police Officer Jim Thorpe and Farmville Police Officer Eric Ellington with the unused and expired prescription dugs that were collected.

On September 27, 2014, Officer Jim Thorpe from the Longwood University Police  Department and Officer Eric Ellington from the Farmville Police Department participated in the DEA’s ninth National Take Back Initiative. This initiative was designed to remove potentially dangerous prescription and other medications from homes by allowing citizens to anonymously dispose of them in a safe manner. The Farmville Police Department and Longwood University Police Department manned a collection site at Midtown Square in the town of Farmville and collected 94 pounds of prescription drugs during this initiative.
