Drakes Branch Man Stabs, Kills Roommate

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 11:21 p.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2013. The caller stated that a man at 11155 Craftons Gate Highway in Drakes Branch had been stabbed multiple times and the caller thought the victim was dead.

Deputies arrived on scene and found the victim, Robert L. Younger, age 63 of the same address, deceased from multiple stab wounds in the neck, back and head.

Deputies arrested Walter Johnson, age 60, also of the same address, and charged him with first degree murder. He was taken into custody without incident. In a press release, the Sheriff’s Office indicated that Johnson was also the 911 caller. Johnson was taken to Centra Southside Community Hospital for treatment of injuries and back to the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held with no bond.
