On October 29, 2014, Michael Arthur Gregory of Drakes Branch was traveling south on Drakes Main St. when he lost control of his 1995 Toyota T100.

Gregory ran off the right side of the road, striking two parked vehicles before crashing into a brick building located at 4790 Drakes Main St. and coming to a stop.

Only minor injuries were sustained in the incident; however, Gregory was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital to be checked out.

The cause of the accident remains undetermined and Gregory was charged with reckless driving, which code section A.46.2-852 states as “irrespective of the maximum speeds permitted by law, any person who drives a vehicle on any highway recklessly or at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger the life, limb, or property of any person shall be guilty of reckless driving.”

Trooper J.V. Bavely was the investigating officer in this incident.
